Gemma, Isle of Wight:

Gemma came to see me because she was having a problem in her marriage.
She had been married for 5 years, and although she loved her husband
she could not settle in the marriage.
“He is my best friend and I love him”, she told me, “but I just cant
stop wondering if I have made the wrong discussion, I like male
attention and I love the excitement of flirting.”

Many people can feel this way, and find monogamy difficult and there
are many many reasons as to why people have affairs. Some people
consider it a natural part of their life and it suits them and their
lifestyle to have affairs, however, in this case Gemma was tormented
and wanted it to stop.

Gemma seemed driven to have affairs and jeopardise her marriage, and
with each affair, she told me, “I soon came to my senses and returned
to my husband. Each affair would follow the same pattern, I would find
myself totally attracted to a guy and then the bubble would burst and
each and every time there would be some kind of drama.”

We looked at why Gemma seemed to be driven by a self destructive need
for male attention. During the treatments various emotions came to the
surface, until one day Gemma was able to bring to the session the
abuse she had experienced as a child.

Once this emotion had surfaced we were able to address it and find a
way to understand how the abuse from her childhood had resulted in her
adult self seeking out abusive relationships. Through a process of
energy healing and talking Gemma was able to understand that often
children who experience abuse are so traumatised (even if it is on a
subconscious level) that they recreate abusive patterns into their
adulthood.

Gemma wanted these patterns to stop and it was this determination that
brought her to the treatment and this determination that enabled her
to acknowledge and release the energies of abuse that she had carried
since her childhood.

Gemma still sees me occasionally to check in and to make sure that she
hasn't replaced one drama with another. I am happy to say that she has
now settled into her marriage and has a whole new drama on the horizon
as she is expecting her first child.
